Our Story
Nestled in the heart of South Devon, The Mewstone Candle Co was born from a love of beautiful fragrance, sustainable living, and the wild coastal landscape that inspires everything we create.
Founded by Carys Wheatland-Jukes, our journey began in a small workshop in Ermington, where every candle was — and still is — crafted entirely by hand. We use only the finest coconut and rapeseed wax blends, paraben-free vegan fragrances, and organic cotton wicks, because we believe what you burn in your home should be as kind to the planet as it is to your senses.
Sustainability isn't a buzzword for us — it's at the heart of every decision we make. From our plant-based waxes and vegan oils to our recycled and biodegradable packaging, we're committed to treading as lightly as possible while still bringing a little colour and warmth into your home.
We're proud to have been recognised by Theo Paphitis as a #SBS Small Business Sunday award winner, and were thrilled to exhibit at Spring Fair 2025 at the NEC Birmingham as one of just 12 selected winners. It's been a joy to share our story with a wider audience.
Today, you'll find us at our little shop at 13 Broad Street, Modbury, Devon, and our candles are stocked by around 40–45 independent retailers across the UK. Whether you're discovering us for the first time or a long-time fan, thank you for being part of our story.
